Thickbox Announcement

ThickboxAnnouncement ist ein Plug-In für WordPress, das es erlaubt Nachrichten in einer Thickbox anzuzeigen. Es kann verwendet werden um Ankündigungen prägnant darzustellen. Über die diversen Einstellungen kann gesteuert werden, wer diese Anzeige zu sehen bekommt und wie oft sie eingeblendet wird. Das Plug-In verwendet die Thickbox und jQuery Bibliotheken, welche WordPress standardmässig an Board hat, sodass volle Kompatibilität zu anderen Plug-Ins gewährleistet ist.

  2. any chance that you might be able to do geo-based showing… so we could select to only show the announcement to US based users? maybe by using one of the maxmind databases or something? this would make this 10000000x more powerful

  4. This is exactly what I have been looking for. I had been using a sticky note script but that required me to manually open the theme files and edit them. Thanks!

  5. If you delete the announcement page, they plugin will not recreate it. If I recreate the page manually, what settings should I use?

  7. @cactuscarl: yes you’re right, the announcemente page is not recreated. you can fix this by deactivating and reactivating the plug-in. i plan this for a future release.

    @Ricardo: Goto settings -> tb announcement and setup your announcement by turning on the announcement in the global options and than decide when and how often the announcement should be displayed. and dont forget to provide an external resource or fill in some content…

  9. hello. this is very awesome and user friendly plugin. i really like it.
    one thing though. it seems that it appear ‘behind’ my menu. is there any tweak that i can do to make the announcement appear in front of my menu page?

    My Plugin is using the wordpress built-in libraries and css for displaying the thickbox. Maybe you have to change something in your theme. can you provide an example, so i can have a look at it?

  12. problem is the following style in your screen.css

    #menu .pads {
    position: relative;
    background: #333;
    z-index: 999;
    }

    change the value from z-index to something smaller than 90 (e.g. 50) and it works…

  14. how do I get shortcodes to work in the thickbox? I would like to insert my icontact signup form (shortcode = [icontact id=5] ) but every time that i do it, it just shows the text it doesn’t execute the shortcode. I don’t know what to do

  15. I’m getting an error when trying to install the system on a windows server. Here is a screenshot. Any idea what might be causing the error? We are using PHP 4.4.7 on an NT server

  16. any idea how to make the output be filtered by the qtranslate plugin? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qtranslate/ that plugin is a multilanguage plugin and right now, all language version announcements are being shown. I’d be happy to either show only 1 language for all, or according to the language of the browser show the corresponding version.

    could you have a look at that plugin and see if your plugin can be made compatible?

  17. i’m currently working on the next release which will apply all filters, so the icontact as well as the qtranslate should be working fine in the next release. next release will be at the end of next week.

    Be great if one could specify multiple external and/or inline content, and have them shown to visitors in rotation.

  23. This plugin causes FireFox to load a blank page and fail. Any idea why? It works fine in Chrome but FireFox begins to load the page, then jumps to a blank page.

    It happens also with me. In your FAQ at worpress.org it says:

    I have set-up an announcement, but no announcement is displayed

    Both hooks wp_head and wp_footer are being used. Check your template for the call of wp_head() and wp_footer().

    What should we do from that point?

  25. I just have one question: Why can´t I enter a date? The field for that is grey and if I put the cursor in it, it doesn´t write anything in it… help!

  26. It works beautifully in Internet Explorer, but in FireFox (which is what the client uses) there is no Close button. Help?

    I was wondering if it’s possible to change the announcement behaviour so that the overlay pops up in other occasions as well? specific pages only,on exit (when user browses away, etc). any thoughts/future development on that?

  41. Hey, im using your plugin announcement and i choose “show everytime user enters the site”.. but it only shows 1 time and after its cookied the second time i visit again, it will not show up until i clear the cookie using the admin page plugin setting..

    Is there anyway to show everytime?

    or is there any way to disable to check as i have implemented a page peel with class=”thickbox” and link parameters. upon click, it loads the thickbox “loading.gif” and stuck there. i think its because of the internal check that disable it from displaying.. anyway to bypass that check?

  42. everytime means that it is show once per surfing session. when the user closes its browser and starts it again, the announcement should be shown again.

  46. 1) If using the Inline Content option, the “Edit now” takes me to a 404 page. There is no text area to write the announcement or place the HTML. Should there be or am I missing something?
    2) It would be neat if one of the options was to show the thickbox announcement after x views. For example, if user viewed 3 posts, then show thickbox.
